May 2006 - temporary public art
Site-specific window installation, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford
I was invitied by the art manager at NOC to exhibit my works in the restaurant area. Instead of using the traditional way of hanging paintings on the walls, I preferred to use the windows in this restaurant and to create a site-specific work. The restaurant was already full of objects, people and colours, so I have tried to remove all these details in my mind to see the bare structure of this interior. The final works, four drawings of the interior's structure on acryclic sheets, were placed in front of the windows. The images turn the windows not only into mirrors, but the lines also barricade our gaze outside, making a statement about the consequences of living in this kind of architecture. The exhibition was accompanied by a text about the works on several tables, to involve the restaurant visitor in critically looking around.
